Grandpa Bicker

What do you call your Great-Grandpa? In our house Great-Grandpa is "Grandpa Bicker".  Most of you know by now that the last week and a half/two weeks has literally been one thing after another for Grandpa Bicker.  He is now currently up in UW Madison Hospital.  I thought I would share some of the things Corinne has brought to the table on all of this. (not to leave Wyatt out, because he did make Grandpa Bicker a really nice card, but.. he just doesn't have the verbal skills his sister does ;o)
APRIL 11: Corinne was singing & didn't know I could hear her.. luckily I'm quick to write things down so this is her song: "Grandpa Bicker feel your heart and don't be sad when you don't feel good I'll help you so you don't feel good like this tractor"
APRIL 16: Corinne has a melt down at supper and tells me "I want to see Grandpa Bicker before he goes to heaven with Grandpa" (clarification- Grandpa is my dad)  OUCH. Thanks to Aunt Deb for finding Bonnie & Jacqui to watch Wyatt,  kids & I are able to be on the road a few hours after this to see Grandpa Bicker.
APRIL 17: Decision was made that it best Corinne not actually see Grandpa Bicker, but she has fun hanging out in the hospital with Grandma Bicker & Aunt Deb, Uncle Dave & KaLena.  Aunt Deb gives her three pennies for the wishing fountain.  wish 1-"a car!!" wish 2-"I wish Grandpa Bicker would feel better" wish 3-"a car, I want another car!"  I showed Corinne the hallway that Grandpa Bicker was "down" and the doors you had to go through to see him & she blew him a kiss.  She had packed her princess dolls, she had wanted to give him Cinderella so that "it wouldn't hurt when he saw the doctor's"
APRIL 19: Corinne wants to go back to see Grandma & Grandpa Bicker.  I think a long trip home over the summer might be just what the Cinderella Dr. ordered!

C-ism

I guess to think this as cute and funny as I do, you need some background. (don't worry not much is needed) Corinne is obsessed with germs. She wants to know everything about them, the why, who, where, why, when, why, EVERYTHING! This is not an easy thing to try to help fuel the knowledge of a three year old on, but her obsession is doing anything but going away. So, we currently have 3 books from the library about germs. Tonight's bedtime story was "the little germ book" as it is the smallest in size, unfortunately it has a purple germ larger than the others with fangs (still just as cartoon-y as the others) but she doesn't like "the big fella" so we have to turn this book upside down after we read it. I offered to return it early, which she thought a good idea, but for today we should read the book "three times, cuz I'm three". Anyway, I've gotten off track :o) we are reading the little germ book at bedtime, learning about various ways germs can get into our bodies & the parties they have in us making us sick basically & she says "mommy, I'm sorry I didn't tell you I had germs in my body when I was sick the last time". It was sweet. Long story to get to that I know, but would it have made as much sense? :o)
